K98 forum

Sep 26, 2023 · I recently just got this K98. Can you guys what it actually is? From what I was told it was used in WW1 as Gew98 than cut barrel length into a k98 for use in WW2. Everything is matching and its in vergy good shape. Just dont know if these are rare or theres a bunch out there. Please help? .

K98 Bayonets. The K98 bayonet is a version of the standard bayonet, designed to be mounted on or under a rifle barrel. Many of the original German K98s are still in circulation, complete with their original matching scabbards and frogs. Some K98 bayonets are part of limited productions and thus marked with serial numbers.A S/147/G is the second year (1935) of k98k production by JP Sauer and Sohn and while it may be hard to say its "RARE", it is damn near very scarce. With production numbers below 100,000 total in which there are 3 very interesting Variations. It is actually a sporterized version, but it appears that what they did to it was to remove the upper "hand guard" and chop the lower one down to the rear sight.
